>I have a 1981 Mazda RX-7. I have had absolutely no trouble with it,
>and really enjoy driving it. It now has 45K miles on it and the stock
>suspension is getting a little soft. I have been to a few suspension
>places in the Berkeley area and have received conflicting suggestions.
>I was wondering if someone in the know, of which I am not, could give
>me some helpful ideas on what to look for and look out for.

Two sources you should check out are Racing Beat and Rotary Engineering.
These are both engineering/equipment shops with a large array of rotary
Mazda products that deal mail order. Both company's catalogs cost $5.00
and are definately worth the money, espicially the Racing Beat catalog as
it is also a technicle manual with tons of useful information about rotaries
and Mazdas in general.
Both these companies are quite experienced and prepare cars for racing
in GTU, GTO, and GTP (and quite often win!). Racing Beat built a special
one-rotor Mazda wankel for NASA and they also are resposible for Car And
Driver's two-engined Civic CRX. Rotary Engineering has a wider selection
of your basic service and repair parts but both carry intake systems, exhaust
systems, suspension modifications, engine modifications, and sundry other
good stuff (drool). Racing Beat has a suspension lowering kit for the Rx-7
that will lower the front end about 1.4 inches with absolutely NO loss in
front suspension travel! Much better than chopping springs, it costs about
$150. Both companies also sell special springs for lowering as well.
   Their addresses are;

       Racing Beat Inc. Rotary Engineering
1291 Hancock St. 5785 Thornwood Dr.
Anaheim, CA 92807 Goleta, CA 93117

myself but I'm told they can be very effective."
