*** The piston engine goes boing...boing...boing! ***
Okay, it's not really ugly, it's bland. BLAND! Recently the July
issues of Car And Driver and Popular Mechanics published photos of the
new Mazda Rx-7 (Rx-8?). The front end is almost identical to the Porsche
944 and the tail looks just like a Camero, even the rear glass hatch
looks like they bought it straight from GM's Firebird/Camero line!
Didn't Mazda learn anything from the Cosmo? Oh, you don't remember the
Cosmo? The sedan with an Oldsmobile grill and a Plymouth Crickett rear-
end and the profile of a Vega? The car NOBODY bought?!
Now they come out with their new 13B turbocharged models complete with
intercooler and 16" tires and they make them look just like everything else
on the road. The Rx-7 originally had it's own identity and Mazda has just
thrown it away.
All I can sy is that this car's performance had better be OUTSTANDING
or why should anyone buy it.
