I am in the market for a used car. I have been looking at 81-82 full-sized GM (Caprice, Lesabre, Delta 88) cars with 5.0 L engines and 4-speed automatic overdrive transmissions. Does anyone own any with these features who can give me any info on reliability (or unreliability) of either feature? Do the transmissions have the torque converter lockup like the newer models do? How is gas mileage with this combination (anything over 12 mpg city is fine, but I would like at least 20 mpg on the road at moderate cruising speeds)? Brian Carty AT&T Bell Labs
