CONFESSIONS OF A UU ADDICT

The greatest attraction of UU to me has been the informal atmosphere of
the organization. There sees to be a camaraderie that has bonded us together
in spite of an absolute lack of any organization. Somehow it fits. Unix is not
the most straight forward operating system : manuals written in the skimpiest manner that defy even the experts to understand all their contents; vast differ-ences in the machinery on which the operating system runs; to a different
"flavour" of the thing from software vendor to software vendor.Yet there seems
to be a quiet pride between its practioners in this occult nature of Unix. The
Unix world, therefore, by default is anarchic and the people who live in this
world tend to be non-conformists. So the very thought of order being imposed
upon the hallowed halls of UU somehow defiles the dis-organization that I have
come to love. Maybe the hidden agenda is to make UU and /usr/group/cdn so much
alike that any objection to their final union can be surmouunted:-- or am I just
being paranoid? Is the catered food the next step in the dialbolical plot?
Tune in to the next episode when we find out that there's a plan to charge
an annual membership fee. Hackers of the world unite !!

I have to agree, I live well within the confines of this chaos. Why add order?
