[can.usrgroup] Is this a BUG or FEATURE

Machine : Olivetti M380 - 386

  I've had some curious results from using newgrp which I cannot explain. We
have a user called joan whose group I want to change while she is doing word- processing. If I go newgrp wordpro [ the name of the group ] it returns
Sorry. If I do the game thing myself I get the new group.
   Joans default group is group
   My default group is admin.
I can find no other significant difference in our environments, but
obviously I'm overlooking something. Here is some important data that may
show what the problem really is:

/etc/group

group::50:steve,evan,alan,dave,rob,marion,fran,don,sonya,susie,angi,joan,sandra,lily,vic,adam,theresa,jack,doug,mark,rick,craig,carsten,ted,tom,bill,Doug,kevin,chris,keith,mike,hans,drew,peter,pierre,joe,word
admin::304:alan,steve,dave,evan
wordpro::305:joan,sandra,steve

I want to add, that sandra in the wordpro group has the same problem. This
problem has chewed up so much of my time already, that I'll buy a beer for
the first guy whose got the answer.
