Thanks to all of you who replied to the original posting, and to D'Arcy Cain and Ted Cowie for offering to look into the matter further. It seems that there is more than enough interest to supply the numbers of insured required for a group plan. There were even some replies from people who are full-time employees (but moonlight in computer stuff): > The dental plan here is "We encourage our employees to brush > their teeth." I definitely have an interest in dental coverage. -- Men. It just so happens I was off to see a life insurance (affectionately known as "cash at death") agent the other day. When I told him what I did, he told me about a recent venture his company has just begun: CrownLife has formed (incorporated?) and underwritten an association called "Computer Consultants of Canada". One of the purposes of this association is to provide a centralized agency to manage group insurance, disability insurance, etc. for individual consultants. I know nothing more at this time, except that this is new. They may, or may not, have dental plans, etc. So far as I know, the association is not controlled directly by CrownLife. If anyone wants to find out more, call Fred Ryall (or one of his associates) at 224-5820. He is the Sales Manager of the Toronto North York Agency in the Madison Centre (suite 1010) on Yonge Street north of Sheppard. He expressed interest in holding a presentation for any group of people whom I though might be interested, and if you are on any mailing lists I'm sure you'll get info from this association. I'm not real sure, but I think I've already received something via CIPS. I sure wish this was available when I was working on my own! BTW, they are going to be trying to sucker me into buying permanent life insurance just before the next UU meeting, so I might be able to get more details at that time. -- Greg A.
