I would like to get information on experiences with getting a car through the 'grey market'. Could someone recommend me how to go about it. I have a following questions: 1. How does one arrange the financing, is it possible to buy the car in Europe on credit like u would a car at a dealer here. 2. Did you have to know a 'local' person to make a 'deal' with the car dealer, or do you buy it from the factory ? 3. Is it imperative to be in Europe to buy the car, or are there agencies which buy the car for you there. 4. What is the kind of paperwork that needs to be done once the car is bought. Which governmental departments must one get in touch with for the paperwork re: Customs, Shipping etc 5. Is there a list of garages, agencies which do the conversion to meet DOT/EPA specs here in the US. Are there any in the Boston area ? 6. What is the cost for a 190E and 190D (turbo) in W.Germany and what is the cost for conversion here ? I would summarize and post the information. Please include any other relevant information.
