[can.usrgroup] There's always sun shining someplace

paul (paul) (01/18/90)

Success!

In less than 30 hours elapsed time (including sleep and travel), we
managed to get the moore system converted from a Spectrix to a Sun
SparcServer. Moving >200 user accounts, directories and mail and
reconfiguring 30-odd terminal devices and hooking up a X.25 multi-
port PAD and a few modems wasn't so bad after all.

A couple of old HP LaserJet printers are giving us trouble, they
like 8-N-1 parity and the Sun like 7-E-1, but everything else
(including a LaserJet II) is humming along nicely.

UUCP connections seem to be ok, and C News (thanks, Evan!) is up
and running waiting for the first news batches to come. This
message will see if I managed to get sendmail and smail (thanks, bdb!)
to agree on how to deliver mail off-site to an alias.

That's it for now. I'll type ^d and see if this gets out to
the world (or at least our corner of it).
