Does anyone know of an implementation of Linda (the parallel programming system, really a language extension) available for Mach, on the NeXT or otherwise? A C, Objective-C, C++, or even PostScript version would be of interest, and a CommonLISP/CLOS version would be an answer to a prayer. Of course, I'd appreciate any information. Please respond by email and I'll summarize to these groups. If there's no such thing, why not ? Linda tuple-spaces are a simple paradigm for parallelism that can be implemented on top of almost any other set of IPC and RPC mechanisms, and more efficiently than hundreds of programmers trying to use sockets! And threads... and semaphores... and shared memory... ick. A Linda expression can be optimized to any of these implementations, without all that mess in your program.
