Try turning the ignition switch to start and wiggling the gear shift lever at the same time. If its the N.S.S. the thing will make contact somewhere in there and the engine will start to crank. If it does catch and run, do not forget to let go of the ignition switch. If you do forget you'll likely goof up the starter. Oh yeah, I once had an old Chevy with this problem. It seemed that the starter and solenoid were so close to the cross- over pipe that they got hot (too hot) and would some- times have to cool off before the starter would spin the engine over. Seems the solenoid was getting its jolt from the ignition stitch, but was too bound up by expansion to pull in the starter drive. Have you checked this out? Dump a bucket of cool water on the starter and try it then. Regards, T. R. Frye
