You do not need an ethernet board to run Mach 2.5 on an i386 machine. However, you do need an ethernet board and internet connection to get the distibution from CMU. We only do this distribution in one manner: we send you two floppies containing disk formating programs, a mach kernel our SUP program (Software Upgrade Protocol) and the appropriate SUP control files. Then you need to copy, using SUP, all the rest of the binaries and whatever sources you want over the network. Mt Xinu will be doing a tape distribution for the i386 version soon.
