[comp.os.mach] Willing to trade updated Mach biblio for OSF/1 papers

fkittred@bbn.com (Fletcher Kittredge) (12/07/90)

At the early October Machnix conference in Burlington, the OSF presenters
didn't have their papers available in time for publication in the
proceedings. It was promised that the papers would be available "real
soon now" and that availability would be broadcast on Usenet. Its been
two months now, and I seem to have missed the announcment ;-).

As an incentive, if someone will send me the particulars on the missing
Machnix presentations, I will post an update to the mach bibliography
covering the last year. The update covers only the period between October
1989 and the present, but has more entries than the whole previous
bibliography!

regards,
fletcher

Hi. There were two papers given by OSF engineers at the Mach
workshop ("Zone Garbage Collection", by James Van Sciver, and
"The Mach Timing Facility", by David Black); both are published
in the proceedings of the conference. In addition, there was
a "works in progress" session given by some other OSF engineers,
including myself. We talked about the OSF/1 VM system, program
loader, and Mach 3.0/microkernel work going on the research
institute. Since this was a works in progress session, there
aren't any formal papers to go with it.

However, there are three OSF/1 papers in the upcoming (January) Usenix
in Dallas:
Program Loading in OSF/1 (Allen, Singh, Wallace, Weaver)
The OSF/1 Unix File System (Loverso, Paciorek, Langerman)
  Processors, Priority, and Policy (Black)

so stay tuned!
