[comp.os.mach] Mach 3.0 info request

francis@cs.ua.oz.au (Francis Vaughan) (01/30/91)

A while ago there was some discussion about 3.0, limited availability,
and its abilities, well the news has long since expired and I suddenly
find myself needing to know a lot more. I am interested in using Mach 3.0
as a vehicle for the development of persistent kernel (essentialy a layer
above the micro-kernel), and my memory of 3.0 suggests that it would be
pretty ideal. I couldn't care less about Unix functionality.

Can someone please point me at:
	what is currently available,
what platforms, (I would love to find out that a SPARC port exists)
most of all, some information about structure and functionality
	(something ftp-able would be ideal).

I think all of the "official" MACH information is held for anonymous FTP
at wb1.cs.cmu.edu (128.2.250.16) with login "anonymous" in the /usr/mach/
area.

When I anonymous ftp to wb1.cs.cmu.edu, restrictions are placed such
that I cannot cd to the /usr/mach area (It won't allow any absolute paths to
be specified). Does anyone know whether anonymous ftp is still a valid way to
acquire MACH information?

Try /usr/mach/public, and everything will be kosher. Mach info is in the
doc directory.
