I made a mistake in responding to a request about information regarding books describing Mach. I indicated that Morgan Kaufmann was about to publish a book on Mach. That was a mistake; they are about to publish a book on Camelot which is a distributed transaction processing system that runs on Mach. I have been told (by the responsible editor) that Prentice-Hall is publishing a book on parallel and distributed programming that talks about Mach. The editor indicated that the book will be out in two days and he promised to send me a copy. I will check it out and post another news item if there is sufficient discussion of Mach in that book. I apologize for the error. I know that some people spent time calling Morgan Kaufmann and inquiring about the book. I apologize; I should have double checked their catalog before posting. ==Tamer -- M. That's "Shienbrood," and yes, he's the famous author of the Berkeley 'more'
program, and currently with OSF.

According to the folks on the other of the 800-526-0485 number, the Mach text will not be available until Jan 1992. They won't even put me on a waiting list. The book, Operating System Concepts by Silberschatz, Peterson and Galvin has a good chapter on Mach which reviews the key features of Mach and talks about some of the implementation details. Rick
