I just bought a Nissan 300zx Turbo (5 spds). Its now has about 900km on it. The car is very nice and boy it's fast. The owner's manual suggests not to labour the engine before 1600km, but the car is so willing to go that I just couldn't resist to step on the throttle and put the turbo to work. Generally, I don't have must complain but the gear box seems very stiff. Especially upshifting from 1st to 2nd. I really have to pull the gear from 1st into neutral, wait for a while and push it, with lot of strength, into 2nd. There seems something in the way that prevent smooth shifting. Another problem I have is driving in highways, >2500rpm and with constant speed or acceleration, the engine makes a very funny sound (not very loud, but is noticeable). Decelerate or sightly release the gas pedal take care of the noise. I have talked to others (unfortunately none is 300zx's owner) about these problems, but nobody recalls they have that when they got their new cars. I also called the Nissan dealer, their answer, of course, was that could happen. My request is that does anyone (300zx's owner or not) in the net has these problems with his/her new car? If so, do they go away after the break-in period is over? Or do they need repair? P.S. Please fasten your seat belts, ready for take-off!
