I've come across a '69 MGC-GT for sale for $1800 in the Seattle area and would like to ask you all some questions about it. The car originally came from someplace in Ohio, and hence has lot's of rust on the body. I have no idea about the condition of the frame. It seems that I'll have to take the car completely apart and replace lot's of sheet metal. That's not so hard, because except for the hood, the pieces are interchangeable with an MGB-GT. I should say that the MGC-GT is the 3.0 liter 6 cylinder version of the 'B'. It has different front suspension geometry (torsion bars instead of coil springs) and maybe a few other things. Has anybody out there done a complete restoration of a B or C? What does it cost to find all these panels. How about the king-pin replacement, is this really a difficult thing to do? The engine I can handle but it also seems to be the item in best shape on the car. In general, is there anybody out there who owns an MGC-GT? They were only made for two years (68-69) and only about 7,000 were made. I'd be very interested in hearing from you. It sure would be nice to own a car like this, but I want to know what I'm getting myself in for before I start. I would like to be finished in under two years (part time) with the whole thing. Does this sound reasonable, or am I nuts? Hope to hear your comments....
