After having some problems with my new Dodge, I decided to tear into the
car and start understanding how it works. I haven't dug into the processor
yet (it's a 6801) but I did find this error list in one of the shop
manuals. It's hard to find, as it is in the FUEL systems section of
the manuals, not under the trouble shooting section.
The following is a list of the error codes that the Chrylser 2.2l
engines with turbocharger and multi-point fuel injection use. These
are different from the error numbers that the non-turbo single-point
throttle body injector system uses.
To see the codes, turn the ignition key ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON in five
seconds or less and the power loss light will flash the code on the
non-digital displays. These codes can remain active in the computer
memory for 30 keystarts after the problem is fixed or corrects itself.
The computer evidently scans for irregularities and if it finds some,
flags it as a potential error. After repeated errors, it then
evidently sets a flag for the hard error and will display the error
numbers.
All messages should end with the 55 as End-of-Message.
