******************************************************************* Can someone explain to me how I would go about obtaining a NeXt machine if I am not a Computer Science student at one of the randomly selected schools that sell NeXts? Being envious of the amazing number of NeXts that seem to be out there, I would VERY MUCH like to get one for myself, too. Ivo Welch phd_ivo@gsbacd.uchicago.edu

Being envious of For those who tuned in late ... You buy a NeXT from a ``dealer.'' At present, the only ``dealers'' are universities which have chosen to purchase a few machines from NeXT, and send some of their staff (usually computer center people, I guess) to NeXT camp for training. Once that has been done, that school can buy NeXTs and resell them. (Question: does the school promise to sell them only to students, faculty, and staff, or could they in principle sell them to anyone?) Alternatively, you could convince NeXT that you are a third party software or hardware developer with a product that they would love to see available on their machine. Anyway, that's my current understanding of the situation. Correct me if I'm wrong, world (asbestos on). lee
