Does anyone have any idea what would be required to hook one of the new 8mm tape backup systems to NeXT? Aren't some of these SCSI based and what would be needed for a driver through the NeXT SCSI port? Paul Lansky

Actually, they are SCSI based. Some of the Mac venders who have them are Jasmine and PCPC. The only problem is... they will sell you the unit, but they won't tell you thing 1 about the protocalls [apart for the standard SCSI] used to get the data out there. If me brave soul were to write a tar/cpio driver for such a widget, the whole software distribution/backup issue could be resolved...

Tecmar makes the tape unit so they would probably tell you the protocols. INEWS SUCKS! INESS SUCKS! INEWS SUCKS! INESS SUCKS! INEWS SUCKS! INESS SUCKS! INEWS SUCKS!
