All I know about the NeXT printer is that it is 400 dpi and costs $2000. I also know that the image is composed in the host and the bit image is sent to the printer via a custom I/O processor. I'd like to know more about what the NeXT printer output signal looks like. Does anybody know where to go for that information? Is it possible to get the information directly from NeXT? Who makes the printer for them? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is my own inquiry. Tally will disavow any knowledge of my actions. The bit map formed by Postscript(tm) is proprietary to Adobe Systems Inc., and I don't think either they or NeXT will release the information. If they did, then we'd all be able to copy Adobe's fonts! According to Byte Magazine (November 1988), the printer is "built around a custom-designed laser engine based on the Canon LBP-SX [same as the HP Laser- jet II, I think] laser engine." (ie.
