[comp.sys.next] filename completion in Edit

dorner@pequod.cso.uiuc.edu (Steve Dorner) (03/16/89)

Has anyone else noticed that "Edit" does filename completion, just like
the shell? I was typing a pathname into an Edit window, hitting Esc to
complete each component, when it dawned on me that I wasn't talking to
the shell at all...

Here, here! I've long believed that filename completion should exist
everywhere. My fingers expect it constantly, but rarely is it there. I
could certainly use it in vi or "smart" argument completion for man, vi
and countless others. Unfortunately this isn't very practical.
