I have a '79 Plymouth Horizon that has a mysterious fuel odor that I cannot seem to locate. I have replaced all the fuel hoses and have rebuilt the carburetor, taking care to set the float at the correct level. The smell seem to be worse just after the car is started, but I may get used to it and not notice it as much. Someone has suggested that it could be a intake manifold leak. That doesn't seem to be a likely cause, and I don't have a vacuum gauge to check it anyway. I would appreciate any suggestions from the net before I throw myself on the mercy of a local mechanic.
