[comp.sys.next] syncing disks before power down

Is it necessary to sync the hard disk before powering the NeXT
down via the power key, or does the machine know that much.  Is
it necessary to sync the optical disk in such cases?  If so, how?
Does umount'ing the optical disk sync it?
