Ok, I was able to get 0.9 up and running with the standard modifications that people have been mentioning here. One thing which I haven't able as yet to get a definitive answer on is why I can't type hostnames like: f.word.cs when cmu.edu is the domain set up in /etc/resolv.conf. Is having/not having this capability a of the nameserver specified in /etc/resolv.conf or is not available or is because of some ignorance on my part? Thanks! ...eric

This is because the NeXT is running a somewhat older version of the BIND library routines. I've sent in my bug report asking that the pick up the newest release; you may want to do the same.
