[comp.sys.next] Problems with calendar and talk in 0.9

rdf@arad.ucsd.edu (05/22/89)

1. It seems that the file /usr/lib/calendar is missing in the 0.9 release of.
the operating system. For lack of anything better, I have become
dependent on calendar (which ran under 0.8) to remind me of meetings.
Although the file /usr/bin/calendar exists, it requires
/usr/lib/calendar to run correctly. Simply grabbing the 0.8 version of
/usr/lib/calendar doesn't work. Could someone please provide me with either:
A) source code for /usr/lib/calendar which I can compile, B) a working
version of /usr/lib/calendar, or C) a program that can take its place
(I'm not fussy, calendar is quite primitive anyway).

2. I am also having problems getting talk to work correctly. I can
connect to other machines on the internet which run the new talk daemon
but not to other users logged in on my NeXT workstation. Instead of
saying 'waiting to connect with your parties talk daemon' (or something
similar) it says, 'checking for an invitation on callers machine'. Of
course, the callers machine is mine own.
