Has anyone been successful in setting up subdomains in NetInfo? I've read through the UserNotes about NetInfo, which has piqued my interest; the manpages for nidomain and other ni-stuff; and anything else I could get my hands on :-). I *have* been able to set up a clone NetInfo server with nidomain. Also, has anyone gotten booting over the ethernet to work? couldn't find documentation on this either. I have successfully set up a NetInfo domain, but I've probably also sent in one of the largest collections of bugs for the current implementation of NetInfo. If you really want to set one up, let me know and I can try and detail some of the tricks and twists you have to watch out for as well as how to clean up when it core dumps during administration. The worst part is configuring it - once it is running it seems to stay that way. Also, in the current implementation I would suggest using it only for a lab environment or someplace where all workstations are on the same network. Clone servers don't work in quite the way I had hoped (only consulted if the primary is down, rather than having a station use the first server which responds), so they are of marginal use. In general, I'd recommend using NetInfo on each machine until 1.0, but I'll try and help you if you are determined... :-) Gerrit Huizenga NeXT Workstation Support Purdue University Computing Center gerrit@mentor.cc.purdue.edu
