Perhaps keeping the scroll bars as they are and having an active margin would help. What I'm thinking of is for the margin to the left of the directory to have a black bar which is proportionally sized to the amount of the directory visible. When you scroll the directory using the up/down arrows at the bottom, the black bar would move up/down. Perhaps this could be done by subclassing a scrollbar and making it really skinny. -- Eric H.
