This is dumb question: How do I get an application to use the icon that I want it to? In the few applications I've built, I set the icon name (including .tiff) in the proper place in the project, and yes, it is also set in the Makefile APPICON (or whatever), but no matter what I do, I always get the standard application icon. Even applications I get off the net, and even the ones in /NextDeveloper always come up with the standard one rather than the one specified. Any ideas? From your message it sounds like you are missing the last step --- The application needs to be in a directory in Workspace Manager's path. Drop the executable in ~/Apps, do "Find Tools" from the Workspace "Utilities" menu, and see if it works. This question came up about 2 weeks ago; I went into more detail back then as to why the icons are so picky about showing up. Search for an article entitled "Questions on IB use" (or something along those lines)... Ali Ozer, NeXT Developer Support aozer@NeXT.com

Elsewhere?) archiving comp.sys.next, or at least the technical questions and answers? Every 200MB or so, you could put out a volume on a disk, all indexed using the same software that the Webster's uses. I don't have a NeXT, but if I got one I'd sure be glad to read through the past 8 months of learning experiences all you folks have had. lee

We have complete archieves going back to Apr 30, 1989, when I first got notes+NNTP installed. Amazingly, 3.5 months of comp.sys.next only occupy about 1 Meg. -------------------- Brad Carlson <carlson@mrcnext.cso.uiuc.edu> or <brad-carlson@uiuc.edu> University of Illinos--Micro Resource Center--NeXT guru
