What is the NeXT's facility for sound now? What is the standard way of synthesizing it? Is it a device? The reason I ask is I know that the NeXT + its DSP can really do a lot of stuff. Still, what standard is offered for sound production in the system software (or Object-C libraries)? Not too important or urgent a question. I refer those interested to the latest issue of Computer Music Journal.
I believe this is the "summer" issue. Several articles are devoted to
using Object-Oriented techniques to generate music. One article in
particular talks about the "Sound" and "Music" kits available on the
NeXT. Happy reading...
