I don't have a NeXT, but I was wondering if someone who did could look inside it and tell me who makes the Optical Drive controller chips. Maybe someone will know. I think that WD is the only company making OD controller chips, but I am not sure. Thanks for any help. =============================================================================== David T. According to Bruce Webster's "NeXT Book", and several technical articles in Byte, Unix World, etc..., the chip which controls the Optical Drive was designed by NeXT, Inc. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Edward McClanahan Hewlett Packard Company Mail Stop 47UE -or- edwardm%hpda@hplabs.hp.com 19447 Pruneridge Avenue Cupertino, CA 95014 Phone: (408)447-5651
