Maybe it's getting a little late to complain about problems with 0.9, but NeXT is a little slow in getting us our 1.0 upgrade, so we're still stuck with 0.9 for an indefinite time. Here's the problem, along with some background. Our NeXT is yp-served by a Sun 3 running Sun OS3.5. Recently, I changed my yp password. I am still able to log in to the NeXT remotely, but, alas, it won't let me log in on the console. The login window gets the shivers, the way it does when you mistype your password. Guess what the problem is...my password has a ^T in it. (Now that all of North America knows that, maybe I should change it. :-) I checked out the keyboard to make sure that ^T is transmitted properly, and it is. So, what gives? Is this fixed in 1.0? Or is this not a bug, but rather a NeXT feature that helps set the cube apart from other Unix boxes? --jim Internet: mattson%cs@ucsd.edu Bitnet: jmattson@ucsd UUCP: {ucbvax|rutgers|bellcore}!ucsd!cs!mattson
