Updated 1.0 versions for the following are available on the cs.orst.edu NeXT archive in next/sources. These were previously releases under (0.8 and) 0.9. - Christopher MOTD -- Recompiled 0.9 version with minor internal changes in accordance with minor internal changes in 1.0. Some additional 'known bugs' listed in the README file. NLoad -- Same deviant, multicolor icon-based 0.9 version (0.95) recompiled and touched up for 1.0 but no functional changes. SoundAndLight -- This one was supposed to go away for 1.0 when/if NeXT fixed the bug where volume, mute and brightness settings in Preferences were stored in the defaults database but were not restored on Workspace login. Unfortunately, the bug has apparently gotten worse as the values are not stored in the defaults database anymore. Instead of using the values from 'NeXT1', SoundAndLight now uses values stored under its own name. See the README file for details. Unknown -- Functionally the same as the 0.9 version but changed around internally to cope with the changes NeXT made in the way application and document ICON segments are handled under 1.0. In addition, my 'fsectbyname' utility has been replaced by NeXT's new 'segedit' routine (see the 'man' page). -------
