[net.auto] radar detector effectiveness

Having owned a Cincinatti Microwave Passport radar detector for
some months now, I can say that it has easily paid for itself in
savings on tickets alone. My roommate has one of their Escort
models and is equally happy with it. I might add, however, that
I still use my CB because it is useful for:
1. Identifying the source of a radar signal (i.e. you can pick
up signals from across divided highways where it may not be
   possible to see the source).
2. Identifying speed traps not using radar.
3. To make up for some of the limitations of radar detectors
(in terms of range, ability to detect in certain geographic
   areas, etc).
4. To provide other useful road and traffic condition information.

I have never gotten a ticket in a car with a radar detector.
I would heartily recommend one to anyone who is not interested
in making special contributions to the support of corrupt
politicians.
