I've been driving my '84 300ZX for a while now and I was wondering
if any other 300ZX owners have a vibrating third gear like mine? I
have taken it in several times:
1) I was told the wheels were out of alignment (by the salesman)
2) The mechanic rotated the drive shaft 45 degrees?
3) Another mechanic said that third gear seems to vibrate a lot
in Datsun's especially 280's and 300's.
I must admit that there are times when I can shift it into third and
can get a rock solid (non-vibrating third gear) both accelerating and
decelerating but, then there are other times when it really vibrates.
The vibration is very noticeable when accelerating but sometimes
disappears when decelerating. And, NO I'm not in too high of gear for
the speed (25-40 MPH/1600+ RPM)
