[comp.sys.next] Spice3c1 is now running on the NeXT!

rfellman@ucsd.edu (ROnald D. Fellman) (11/14/89)

I have a rudimentary, bug-ridden port of Berkeley Spice running under
NextStep. It seems to work without crashing but is lacking in many
features. It is a direct port that uses a command-line interface
but supports four kinds of graphics: NestStep Graphics window, graphics
terminals (such as a Tek4014), postscript hardcopy output, and
ASCII graphics. However, I have also heard that Deutsch Research
(415-327-8677) has a version running with a user-friendly interface
similar to their MacSpice version.

I don't know what he is charging but if you want a copy of my version,
I can let you have it provided that you can convince me that you have a
serious need for it and are prepared to tolerate its shortcomings.
I did the port myself since I required it for my research but have very
little time to fool around with it (and no time to support it).

If I wasn't able to scare you away yet, then please send me e-mail.

Also, I would desperately like to buy some GOOD software.
Is anyone nearing completion of a MacDraw clone, (Draw on the NeXT is
missing too much to be usable and Frame is far TOO slow and clumsy to
use as well as being overkill.) I also need something like MacEqn and an
outlining program for use with WriteNow.

Thanks,
