[net.auto] Looking for ideas on Celica problems.

Hi;

	I have two quicks questions on an 82 Toyota Celica GT Liftback.

	1. It is a 3-speed automatic and the overdrive doesn't work.

	2. When idling (like at a stop light) in drive, when headlights or
	rear defroster, (heavy electrical load) is swicthed on, idle speed
	drops from around 800-1000 rpm to about 400-600 rpm and car shudders.

Any ideas or common experience with this?

Post to group or send email to

In article <82@decwrl.UUCP> you write:

I spoke to my brother, the Toyota mechanic and he said:

This is not a common problem, but it could be a bad
symptom of transmission trouble--he suggests you
take it in IMMEDIATELY and have the transmission
looked at.

He had no ideas about this without being able to see
the car. He says a drop in rpm is normal, but yours
is too much (normal would be about a 200 rpm drop).
The shuddering is just what could be expected to
happen when the rpms are that low.
