[comp.sys.next] how to subclass a instantiated object.

dennisg@kgw2.uucp.WEC.COM (Dennis Glatting) (12/23/89)

can you help me?

1.
i want to subclass a instantiated window and assume its controls.
i tried to archive the object then read it back but the read object
functions merely creates another object of the super class. I tried
(which it isn't recommended to do) archive the object and read it
back with the subclass read: method. it crashed. so how can i
do this short of writing the super class in Objective-C and creating
the controls?
i've written a super class like that before. it was a pain
to adjust matrices to fit in boxes and i never did figure out how
no make a bold title for a box once it got the box's font object.
(how does one do that?)

2.
i need a tutorial on scroll views. i can't find any examples. i want
to create a scroll view of buttons much like the digital librarian
does in the summary area. could some one point me in the right
direction? it is probably so easy that my simple mind doesn't see it.
