I'd like to thank all the people who sent me kind and encouraging mail messages concerning my failed optical disk. I'd also like to thank NeXT for standing behind their product. Our service tech reports that NeXT will indeed replace my failed drive at no charge -- thank you, NeXT, for making me a believer in the way you support your machines. The only suggestion I'd offer would be to put the serial number of major components (like the OD and hard drives) on the back of the cube -- in order to provide the service technician the OD serial number, I had to dig out the funny little ice pick and open up the cube (and like most software-oriented types I always get a little nervous working on the hardware!). Nonetheless, again, thanks NeXT, for doing what it takes to make your customers happy!
