We just installed an additional increment to our (tiny) NeXT cluster. We received this one within a week of a year after our initial NeXTs. Like our initial NeXTs from January of '89, this one still doesn't have a bus driver chip. (Unlike our initial NeXTs, this one didn't have the T-shirt accessory!) The new NeXT came with the release 1.0a optical disk. The serial number of this NeXT was in the 6000's, and since our initial ones were under 500, I'm assuming the numbering is sequential and that there are between 6K & 7K NeXTs out there. (Other estimates?) As far as our keyboard serial numbers go, we have AAE850XXXX, AAE890XXXX & AAE930XXXX prefixes. Our mice have AAF850XXXX, and AAF920XXXX prefixes. Out of curiosity, anyone know what the changes are among the various keyboard and mouse prefixes and what other ones are out there? The cube and display serial number prefixes have remained constant. - Christopher -------
