NeXTStep it! Where does an 800-pound gorilla sleep? Anywhere he wants,
but in this business it's sometimes hard to tell who the gorilla is.
Take the case of Microsoft and IBM, for example. IBM's the big guy,
right? When it comes to new versions of Presentation Manager, maybe
not. The project is very much behind in schedule, and the Knife
reports that milestones are continually missed. And what can IBM do
about it? Well, one rumor being heard with increased frequency is that
IBM is seriously considering making NeXTStep the primary graphical
user interface operating system for the OS/2 line. That should light a
fire under Microsoft. Knife spies claim to have seen it running on a
Model 70, in addition to a Sun workstation, but that's another
story...
