In addition to Ron Christian's "It's Rumor Time" ... The 86 Vette is basically the 85 Vette with a few additions. ABS braking system, aluminum heads, smaller starter, under 3000 pounds, different wheel centers, extra taillight on the roof, and some others I can't recall. In both the new AutoWeek and Keepin Track of Vettes, there are articles about the 86 and speculation about future Vettes. David McLellan, chief Vette engineering man, has said they are working on furthur suspension refinements, aerodynamic changes, and ways to increase power and lower weight. There have been twin turbo 350cu prototype power plants, turboed-V6 prototypes, etc. all based on the current chassis/body. In an older interview (Car and Driver), McLellan said his goal with the Vette is to be "king of the hill", and that the Porsche 928S and 944 were the cars he wants to stay ahead of. With the 944 turbo and the 4-valve 928S now out, it won't be long before Porsche adapts the 4-valve head to the 944 turbo, since the 944 motor shares simular head design with the 928. When that happens, look for a turbo Vette. {talcott,wjh12}!cdstar!star (J. Quillard at Cambridge Digital Systems) "Tach it up, tach it up, Buddy Gonna shut you down ... "
