This is to announce the release of CSound-NeXT v1.3. The primary feature of this release is that it can launch and communicate with LPC-Next (linear predictive analysis), just released. The user selects a soundfile in CSound's file browser, then hits the LPC button. The LPC application comes up with the selected soundfile loaded and awaits further action from the user. Also, there have been several minor bug fixes and cosmetic improvements, including a spiffier info panel (zowie!), graphics by Stone Design's `TextArt'. In the past, some have requested the source, which I'm a little reluctant to release because a few of the core csound programs have been modified to work better with the front end. I'd like to check first with Barry Vercoe and the folks at ems.media.mit before releasing tainted code. anonymous ftp: uvaarpa.acc.virginia.edu:/pub/next/Apps/CSound.tar.Z As usual, I'm willing to uuencode, chop and mail to those who don't have ftp. - Pete Peter M.
