[net.auto] time to look for a new Toyota

dck@houxj.UUCP (D.KWONG) (09/06/85)

My wife wants to replace her old '76 Toyota Celica with a newer
'85 Corolla. Can you comment on the following points?
Mail to houxj!dck. Thanks in advance.
1. Given that Toyotas always have a high markup, is there a
"good" time to shop for it? Which is better:
	- Labor Day weekend
	- end of the month
	- end of the model year (Sept or Oct?)
	- middle of the winter
2. I have heard of "auto brokers". Has anybody tried them and
would recommend them? Were the brokers able to get you a
better price than shopping around yourself?
3. What are the pros and cons between the Corolla (FWD) Sedan
and the (RWD) SR5? My wife heard from a mechanic that a
RWD car is preferred because fixing something is easier and
perturbs less because the hardware is distributed front and back.
   Any truth to this?
4. Any rumors on the '86 Corollas?
