Occaisionally one needs to reboot the cube, and it is (of course) nice to be able to warn users of that event in advance. However, there is something of a problem with anonymous FTP users. Therefore, my questions: -- Is there anyway to conclusively determine that anonymous FTP access is or is not taking place at any given moment? You can use the ftpd -l flag to log the *start* of FTP connections, but that doesn't tell you when an FTP connection *finishes* -- If someone IS using anonymous FTP to move files, is there anyway to let them know they need to finish things up or get blown off at reboot time? That is, is there anything equivalent to write that can talk to anonymous FTP users? -- Finally, if nothing else, is it possible to specify an anonymous FTP- specific "MOTD-like" file so you could at least announce when you plan to take the cube down? Ideally, this file would be displayed when the user connects to the ftp server... Thanks for any suggestions, Joe St Sauver
