I've FTP'd two new NeXT applications, Magnify.tar.Z & PrimeSpiral.tar.Z, to the submissions directory of the cs.orst.edu NeXT archive: Magnify tracks the cursor and magnifies the area around the hot spot into a window. The magnification factor is user settable and the PostScript for the image can be copied to the pasteboard. Make sure to read the 'BUGS' section of the 'README' file before running this application. PrimeSpiral is a demonstration with no utility value. The concept of a prime spiral is: start at the center of a square and spiral outwards, inverting bits whose positions on the spiral correspond to a prime number. Since there is no formula to generate primes you would expect the pattern to be random but what you get are numerous broken diagonal lines, voids and other 'patterns'. The prime spiral also tests how efficiently your workstation (and/or programmer) can compute primes and plot single bits. - Christopher -------
