Note that they were real harnesses.  I put 4-point harnesses in my 944.
The main conclusion I reached is that the regular seatbelts are near jokes.
They certainly do not restrain one well under hard cornering.  I use the
harness instead even on the highway sometimes.  Even so, I imagine regular
belts, if USED, are better than air bags.
