I have noticed that files I create with Edit are not given the permissions defined by my umask and the "file creation mask" of the Preferences application. Specifically, my umask is 022, and the "file creation mask" of the Preferences application is set to rwxr-xr-x, so in both cases write access should be given only to the owner (i.e. me). When I create a file with vi in a Terminal window, the file is given the proper permissions, i.e. -rw-r--r-- But when I create a new file with Edit, it gets -rw-rw-rw- This is obviously not what I want. Has anyone else noticed this? And can someone explain this to me, and tell me how to fix it?
