I have a serial line that can run 38400 baud but as far as I can tell, the NeXT can only support up to 19200 baud. I'm running kermit as a serial line terminal program for logging in to the campus network and would like to double my speed. Even the lowly mac plus can handle 57600 baud. Both machines use the same Zilog Z8530 chip, so I don't see any obvious incapability on the part of the NeXT machine. Does anyone know how to add unsupported speeds? or if it is possible? Also, I see in the 1.0a release UNIX man pages that slattach is documented there, however there is no such command implemented. In fact, this is one command I would like very much to use. So what is going on here? Did someone forget something?? -Avery Wang

Hello, We're a computational chemistry group which is contemplating the purchase of a NeXT and would like to know about the availability and quality of Fortran compilers. Specifically, is the Absoft Object Oriented Fortran any good? It looks like a nice idea, but I've seen a good deal of flames directed at it on the Mac list. P.S. Fortran isn't my idea, but we've got more lying around than I care to try to port. -Fred ******************************************************************************* * How can you shoot women and Frederick P.
