Hello all, This is a follow up to my previous note concerning "The NeXT bible". A number of people have asked me to post a number of specifics, so here they are..... Price: $29.95 Publisher: Copyright 1990 by Brady Books A division of Simon & Schuster. Pages: 675 with lots of illustrations. ISBN: 0-13-620725-1 I would like to add one more note. This is a very valuable reference book, however, it was written by a man with a personality. It is written in such a way that a person could start at page one, and read all the way through. -Ed Hill University of Iowa edhill@shumun.weeg.uiowa.edu

Well, I bought the book but I have to say that for most of us (i.e. those who have worked through the NeXTs nuances already) it might not be worth a trip to the bookstore. The last 20% of the book is called "Futures" and talks (speculates really as there's no NeXT official-ness to ianything said there) about NeXT-Video, color, RISC vs 040.... in other words things we've hashed out here for some time now. The book DOES have a fairly rigorous middle section on programming the Cube. It doesn't try to teach Objective C, but there are lots of good illustrations and examples right from NeXT sceens. I found it interesting that the author did the manuscript in WN on the Cube, then moved everything over to the MAC under MS Word and QuarkExpress to polish up...didn't Mr. Seybold say that the Cube was THE machine for DTP?? Maybe the book is ideal for those who haven't "grown-up" with the .08-1.0 series of Cube evolution. For those who have, I just think the NeXT Bible is mostly rehash and very little new...albeit in a nice package!
