NeXT Technical Support is pleased to announce the availability of NextAnswers. NextAnswers is a collection of answers to commonly asked technical questions about the NeXT Computer System. The topics covered include system administration, programming, and NeXT applications. When incorporated into Digital Librarian, NextAnswers will supplement the existing on-line and printed documentation, further helping you to understand and apply the power of the NeXT Computer. NeXT Technical Support intends to distribute NextAnswers on a monthly basis. NextAnswers can be obtained by anonymous ftp from one of the following Internet archive servers: ____________________________________________________________ hostname IP address directory ____________________________________________________________ cc.purdue.edu 128.210.9.2 pub/next/docs/NextAnswers cs.orst.edu 128.193.32.1 pub/next/documents/NextAnswers umd5.umd.edu 128.8.10.5 NeXT/NextAnswers Make sure you have about two megabytes of free space on your disk, then su to root in a Shell and type the following: mkdirs /LocalLibrary/NextAnswers cd /LocalLibrary/NextAnswers ftp hostname-or-IP-address [see table above] [Login:] anonymous [enter your own login name as the password] ftp> cd directory [see table above for the directory name] ftp> binary ftp> get NextAnswers_April_90.tar.Z ftp> quit zcat NextAnswers_April_90.tar.Z | tar -xvf - (If you don't have root access, or can't ftp directly from your NeXT Computer, adjust these instructions accordingly, or see your system administrator.) The above sequence of commands will create a subdirectory of /LocalLibrary/NextAnswers called April_90. Inside April_90 will be a WriteNow file called INSTALL.wn that contains complete instructions on how to finish the installation. We believe you'll find NextAnswers a valuable source of technical information. We welcome corrections and new submissions. Please see the NextAnswers file README.wn for further information. __jayson :-) NeXT Technical Support Jayson_Adams@next.com

NextAnswers is great. Thanks for the service!!!! One question though. I have read how to submit an entire question:answer pair. Is there a way to submit a question without an answer and get someone at NeXT or out on the great ether to answer it in a form that it will be appropriate for inclusion in next month's NextAnswers? Others might be looking for the same answer.
